Critical Literacies – Images for Sharing Children’s Knowledges

CLICK examines how children experience, understand, and create photographic images as critical visual literacy practices.

CLICK is focused on critical visual literacies, that is, children thinking deeply about the images that they see and that they make.

We have been looking at slow and inquiry-based approaches to research and pedagogy and examining the role of images in children’s everyday lives. Our program of research is centrally focused on issues important to children.

Most recently, we have been working with children to think about the possibilities and challenges of working with genAI and images.

In our newest project, children will be gathering, making and analysing images as they build their critical and appreciative capacities.
